After 3 and a half years of working, we are delighted to announce the successful completion of the SPHERE project. On Thursday 06 February 2025, at our Saint-Cloud offices, with our partners ASB Aerospatiale Batteries and SilMach and the DGA – Directorate General of Armaments.
This project, supported by AID RAPID subsidy, has resulted in the development of a thermal battery system to restart helicopter turbines in flight in the event of engine damage (ASB works). Several innovative acceleration measurement systems have also been developed, making this system suitable for use on both military and civil helicopters (SilMach works). AVNIR Engineering led the project management and solved the challenges of integrating the various systems on board the helicopter.
We are grateful to Safran Helicopter Engines for their key role as specifier on this project, and to the DGA for their confidence. This project has been a great collaboration that has enabled the consortium to meet some ambitious technical challenges.
